Confederate manufactured cap pouch, typical example with lead finial and single belt loop, with crude hand-stitching and russet leather finish. This example exhibits all of the characteristics of the classic CS accoutrement, and is no doubt of southern manufacture. Whomever soldier wore this cap pouch scrawled his name on the inside flap, however it is indiscernable to the naked eye, although a more acute researcher might uncover more about its owner. Leather is a bit stiff, and the inner flap is loose, as well as the top stitching of the back belt loop where the inner flap attaches. No inner wool or pick, as is the case with most CS cap pouches. A great example of an exceedingly rare Confederate manufactured accoutrement, issued and worn by a Southern troop during the war.
