1858 infantry frock coat exhibiting all of the trademarks of an early war example - braided light blue cord hand-sewn on, early war RMDC Waterbury buttons that match and appear original to the coat (missing only 3 on the front), the correct quilted alpaca lining stuffed with buckrum and brown alpaca wool, brown polished cotton tail pockets. Much hand-sewing throughout, with some machine stitching here and there. Hand-wipped button holes. An excellent example of an early war piece that was issued and worn, not a late war Boylan contract/ Bannerman surplus coat that is more common out there. There are no contractor/ inspector stamps, and no ID.
