Very nice example of a Federal issue 1851 regulation tarred haversack. This one came from the C & D Jarnagin collection and was the model they used to produce their reproductions. There is some slight separation at the right shoulder strap where it meets the body, and a weak crack on the leather closure that has been reinforced by an old piece of oil cloth/ black friction tape on the back, otherwise very solid. These haversacks are so hard to come by these days, and this one is a very fine example that will look great in any Federal ACW display.
